Princilla Ursery founded OSHCC, a telemental health counseling service, in 2016 to eliminate a barrier to those needing mental health counseling at an affordable rate. Ms. Ursery is a fully Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the States of Alaska and Michigan. She has maintained a private practice in Detroit, MI, and Fairbanks, AK. Ms. Ursery holds several credentials and certifications, including but not limited to National Board-Certified Counselor (NCC), Infant Mental Specialist (IMH-E), Tele-Behavioral Health Counselor Level 2 (TBHI-Level II), SPADA Certification for alcohol/drug use and addiction.
Ms. Ursery identifies as a Depth-Oriented Psychotherapist and an Educator. Although Ms. Ursery supports clients and their families/partners of all ages (zero to 99 years old) living with an array of mental illnesses and/or unresolved issues, she stated her primary specialty is working with attachment (adult/child/parent) disorders, perinatal and postpartum depression, and personality disorders.
My Approach
My therapeutic approach is practical and influenced by your presenting needs and current strengths. I draw from various psychological theories, such as Attachment theory (Child/Parent/and Adult), Reality Therapy, Developmental Psychology, Person-Centered Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Problem-Solving Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and current neuroscience research.
My Goal
To enter into a genuine therapeutic relationship with you, your children, and/or partner- to connect, listen, and support your strengths while addressing the identified weaknesses of your desire, and in a respectful manner, help you to challenge unhealthy patterns whether they are behaviors, emotions, or thoughts. My OSHCC team and I offer clinical support with kindness in a space where you feel safe and in a manner that’s non-judgmental. We are unable to erase your burdens; however, we can help you identify them more clearly, face them, and support them with the release of their stronghold in your life.
Ms. Ursery has worked in many different industries, from entertainment to youth/adult crisis stabilization centers, all involving an array of clientele. However, her most prized career is clinical counseling.
